Ok guys now i fixed that damn hard drive so here are the awaited pics from my trip... I hope you will like them, i really loved this trip...
The street that runs through our village
Same street further down. It was "moserde" the yearly water day, the same day that we arrived, so you can imagine how wet we got that day...
The street going upwards. Notice that our village lies on a hill which is one of reasons why it is called "Bne Rumta" (sons/children of the hill), however the origin of that name goes back to when my people used to live in Hakkari. The area there was called Rumta, its part of the "upper tyari" tribe. The people that lived in the Rumta area (my forefathers) were called Bne Rumta. Since then, the name has followed my people through the generations.
A pic from the top of the hill
More from the hill
Road going upwards. The water tower is the first building in our village (if you don't count the cemetery and some utility buildings behind it), and our village is the first one of the 35 Assyrian villages along the riverbank of Khabour.
Our summer house that is being build, me and Rumtaya will stay here in the future when we go
Sunset in Bne Rumta
This was a bit funny, its a bit old but it says "Keep the village clean" Ironically it was full of sand but there where plenty of garbage bins placed out in our village.
Watching world cup finals in one of our outside cafes
Our newly build Church of Mar Sawa, the dry areas will be filled with gardens and flowers, and behind the church will a hall be constructed
Inside the church
Our old church
The city of Al-Hasake
Al-Hasake city central
I went out hunting almost everyday there, mostly for birds, i found these two sitting in a tree and i had to catch them, of course i let them go later, more owls to come...
There where plenty of nice chicks in our village
And of course some cows
My cousins cat
And my other cousins dog
One of the outside cafes, this one was in Ras al Ayn.
Cafe at our place
I Ate this many times
"The big one", he probably could see all of Syria since there where pictures of him almost everywhere
Our water tower
And of course will we go up to the top, it was around 30 meters tall
Here is how the ladder looks like
And this was my mission and the reason we climbed the water tower, a beautiful picture of our village from the top. Unfortunately you cant see the whole village because its on a hill, the rest of the village continues behind the last houses you can see... And on the horizon where there is a lot of tries, there begins the village of serspidon, which actually is the same village because our two villages are stuck together...
More from our village
Just to the left of the picture above, everything you can see is the land of our village, the green fields are cotton fields, and the yellow ones are wheat fields that have been cut. There is of course much more to my left from here but i did not upload all the pics, since its pretty much the same, more cotton and wheat fields...
This is to the left of picture above, you can see our village cemetery as well.
Also to the left of the picture above, again, all you can see is the land of the village.
To the left of the picture above, the river is very dried out but during winter there is a lot of water (the place where tries grow, on the river bank, all of that used to be full of water more then 10 years ago)
To the left of the picture above. The Arab areas (which our village sold to them more than 30 years ago. They regret it now because it was stupid, they almost gave it away.), on the other side of the river Khabour.
My cousin brining a cage (you will see why)
This was the reason. The other two owls we caught, not the same type. Since the water tower is not in use anymore, it is a nest to owls (Barn Owl), i just had to catch some...
We actually caught two of them
The other one, it was a female. About 40 cm in hight, it had a wingspan of almost a meter... BIG!
Their English is not the best
Just got out of Beth Nahrin, this is the Euphrates
Football against another neighbor village, our home field is of course much better
Church of Saint Mary in the village of Walto
Same as above
My auntie with some of the Arab workers, all of the people in our village have workers in the fields, almost no one of the Assyrians work in the fields (yes very lazy)...
The Best fruit in the world (unfortunately not mature enough when i was there)
Copies? In Syria they copy a lot of stuff
The desert
Trying to take a pic of the cake at a wedding
You probably know that the Tyari are the best dancers of Assyria, well here they are, some of the dancers from our village. The best Assyrian dancers in Syria...
One of the pools we went to, there where some very nice places to go swimming. The best part with it, almost no Muslims went there since they have to dress like us then hahah
One of the major, Assyrian owned, traveling agencies in Syria, most of the Assyrians and many non Assyrians went with these since they had destinations to all major cities in Syria... The girl working there came out just when i took the picture, so it wasn't for her i was taking the pic, she is however Assyrian of course
The other Assyrian traveling agency
They even had candy bars and other stuff made in their name
Our bus to Damascus
Castle in Tadmur
Going back to Damascus airport. Well thats it, its just some of my pictures i hope you enjoyed them as much as i did taking them.
