Perth Glory defender Dino Djulbic has been slapped with a five-match suspension by the A-League's match review panel for spitting towards a match official.
Djulbic initially received a yellow card in the Glory's 5-2 loss to Sydney FC on Sunday for appealing the merits of a penalty.
But seconds later the fiery 25-year-old was shown a direct red card by referee Peter Green for spitting in the direction of the match official.
The match review panel found Djulbic guilty of 'unsporting conduct toward a match official' and imposed a four-match ban, which was increased to five games because of the compulsory one-match suspension for a red card.
Djulbic won't be available until the Glory's round nine fixture against Adelaide United at Hindmarsh Stadium on October 26.
Newcastle Jets defender Adam D'Apuzzo was handed a mandatory one-match suspension for denying Melbourne a clear goal-scoring opportunity during the Victory's 5-0 rout of the Jets.
It was ruled that D'Apuzzo deliberately handled the ball in the box in the 78th minute.
The match review panel also reviewed incidents involving Queensland's Danny Tiatto and Central Coast's Mark Bosnich but took no further action.
Both Djulbic and D'Apuzzo have until noon local time on Tuesday to lodge an appeal to the Disciplinary Committee.
