Hi Everyone,

I was hoping if someone could translate this into Assyrian, preferably typed.

I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

Typed in the Latin script or in Syriac? I don't know how to write in Syriac, so I'll write in the English alphabet:

Ana ewan bara'd ara'ah. Many hamen beyee le azel al kheshkoota, op aweeleh bara'd khayoota.

It's not a perfect translation (it's kinda simplistic), but it's the best I could do. Hopefully others can amend it or do better. :)

It's not bad but I would change a few things.

Mani = who.
kleyma/ kileyma (kl eyma) = whoever.
Kilman (kl man) = whoever.

up = even (as in, "even I went to the store").
ball / illa = but

Hwi = be. Therefore, it should be hawiyle instead of awiyle (even though the latter is used a lot).

Hemmin = believe. Tbi/Tabi (tbi'/tabi') = follow

Based on the above, I'd make it something like this:
Ana iywan bahra d alma. Kleyma d tabe biyi, la bid azle gu khishkoota illa bid hawiyle bahra d khayoota.

If it were to have articles (which is formal but not compulsory nor typical), it would be the closest translation and be something like this:
Ana iywan o bahra d'o alma. Kleyma d tabe biyi, la bid azle gu khishkoota, illa bid hawiyle o bahra d khayoota.

On a side note, although the root A-R-E (Alep-Resh-Eh) is indeed used to refer to the Earth/world, it seems to have a broad meaning primarily concerned with the "land". Here are some words from other roots that I found in the dictionary as having definitions more specifically concerned with "the world" which I think would be interesting to share anyway.

This is from John 8:12. Ramon, can you give us some more details as to what exactly you want?

  • Dialect? Classical Syriac? Turoyo? One of the Madhnkhaya ones?
  • Script (Estrangela, Serto, or Madhnkhaya)? Vowels or no vowels?
  • By "typed," do you mean text rather than an image? If it's for a tattoo, an image is always the better way to go to avoid rendering errors.

In Classical Syriac, from the PsheeTtaa:

In my own dialect (Tyari/Iraqi Koine mix), phonetic transcription:
anin bahrit dunye. eni tathe bathri la jawij pkhuya, illa tawe leh bahrit khayyutha.
