It just seems like a promotional event trying to rally up supporters and viewers for Ashur TV.

This is the email a friend of mine forwarded me when she sent me the flyer:

Dear Assyrian of Los Angeles and near cities,

Please come to the special Ashur TV event that will be held on Sunday Dec. 20th at 5 pm

Legendary artist and singer Ashur Bet-Sargis and Emanuel Bet-Younan will be in this event to speak about Ashur TV and its great benefits to our nation all around the world and in Iraq.

Ashur TV is our only hope for a true nationalistic and democratic TV. We all have to support it until it can sustain itself and meanwhile we will chereesh its great achievements.

The event is free of any charges. there will be snack and beverages and great short speeches, music and other programs.

We are happy to have this event in these happy days before the Christmas. Indeed this is the best gift every Assyrian can have.

HAHAHAHA! I'm loved by the community, dammit! Hahaha, but yea... there really was no one there. Like 30 people maybe. Where you there? I bailed early to hit up my cousin's house and left my parents there. They said a bunch of people showed up after... around 100 people.
 
I wasn't able to make it but in the pictures I saw it looked like it had a pretty good turn out. I didn't see Ashur BetSargis in the pictures, wasn't he supposed to be there?

Ashur Bet-Sargis couldn't make it because he was in pretty bad shape. Last time I saw him, he was hoping he'd be able to make it if his condition got better, but it didn't. So, he didn't show. Emanuel Bet Yonan was there though and some new singer named Edmond (not the Mongolian Edmond with the Armenian nose).
