Without God we will never have a nation.  Look at history again.  God took away our Country from us because of our proud hearts.  The more we say we are nationalistic and put that before God, we will never get our Country back and that's for sure.  Sorry guys.  You can't have anything before God.  You can just read history and see how God's been consistent.

I am way way way more nationalistic.  Religious institutions (churches, books, hierarchies, etc.) are man-made.  Nationality is something you're born with.  So I believe in G-d.  But choose Assyrians and Assyria over religion every time.

Good post by the way, sargon.

Also, the only time we ever DID have a nation, empire, power, etc...was BEFORE we started believing in the Christian G-d.  Also something consistent in history.

I'm just sayin'.  Maybe Allaha Ashur is PISSED!!!!

It is also inaccurate to claim G-d takes away and gives countries according to their faith and how "good" they are, like Clairdy suggested by claiming we were so "proud" G-d punished us.  That's religious blackmail.

Agreed.  With that logic, how does one explain countries such as Papa New Guinea, Japan, China, India, Zimbabwae, etc.?

???

Even when our people choose religion above everything they didn't get a country.
God doesn't give countries ...  people fight and die for countries. Look at Israel it took a lot of palestinian (and jewish) blood to establish that country.
If you don't fight you don't get a country and if there is a war God shouldn't support a side cause God shouldn't support killing.

There is a big difference between murder and to kill.  Thou shalt not kill in Greek, Hebrew, and Latin I believe means do not murder.  But to defend yourself for a good of a nation, a belief, perhaps even a God, then you have no choice.  What do you tell a soldier who believes in Christ, but is forced to fight?  God won't condemn him for killing, that wouldn't be fair.  If you LOVE to kill and enjoy it, then yes it is a sin.  But what about all those battles between good and evil?  Should we have left Hitler or Stalin continue to kill millions, MILLIONS of poor innocent people?  We had to step in and destroy, kill that evil so it would not spread.

Hi Eanna, How are you doing?

You are brining up a very crucial point. If humans did not fight for their rights and shed blood then they will not get to what they want. However, for those of us who do not have a profound knowledge of the bible we may rely on historical evidence for this face. A perfect example that proves humans may establish a free state without violence was Mahatma Gandhi, one man was able to liberate his country the strongest imperialist nations till this day. Violence is a quick and short way out of problems, but it is not the best way. Lets not blame God for all that our problems and claim that our misfortunes are predetermined; after all we do believe in ?free will? don?t we?!
God Bless you Eanna, a profound point indeed!? ?

Shami

I am doing fine thank you  :bigarmhug:

I agree with you especially when you say let's not blame god for all our problems ...

Radrides .... Hitler first was supported by the west and later they turned against him, just like the Taliban, just like Saddam, just like Pinochet and many more tyrants were first supported by those who "lead and represent us"and when they were of no use they suddenly became the enemy... Soldiers and people are used by goverments who are supported by rich companies and people... They abuse religion and politics to use innocent people to do their  dirty jobs and to increase their wealth...
As a christian the religion tells you not to kill and you shouldn't especially not for people who use you...
Like Shami said we all have a free will and we will stay responsible for all we do

I believe in free will, that is the beauty of Christianity.  Christ died for you, but you choose to follow to a certain point.  I understand that.

Hitler was a psychopath.  True, governments decide to support people without knowing one's true motives, or how the gov't can benefit from that regime or particular person, sadly that is how the world works unfortunately.  Now what does that have to do with killing innocent people?  We are all used sadly, but to defeat an enemy, should you just stand back and let the world suffer regardless of who is at fault.  That doesn't make sense to me.  What did Assyrians do when Simkoo, the Ottoman Empire, and the Persians began to murder our people?  We fought for our survival.  Will God condemn us for CHOOSING to defend our selves by killing Kurds and others?  That's my point.  To say that the Crusaders in the 11 and 12 centuries were successful is wrong and pathetic.  They did fought to annihilate the infidel.  Sounds familiar doesn't it?  That is murder in itself.

The Assyrian Empire came to an inevitable downfall prior to the Assyrian people accepting the Christian faith.

The Assyrians accepted the God of Isreal way before Christ.? Remember Jonah?? He went into Nineveh before the fall and they repented.  They had no excuse, they knew who the God of Isreal was.  They had heard through past generations.

Even when our people choose religion above everything they didn't get a country.

True, God has also given us a brain.? We are to use it.? Look at the history of the Isrealites.? When they chose God first, they won!? When they decided to take things into their own hands, they lost!? You still have to fight for it, but the question is, are you putting God first and trusting him?? There is a huge difference.

It is also inaccurate to claim G-d takes away and gives countries according to their faith and how "good" they are, like Clairdy suggested by claiming we were so "proud" G-d punished us.? That's religious blackmail.

If you see it as being punished, then that's your definition.? How about discipline?? If we continue on saying that we are nationalistic with no God, like I said before, just study history.? We aren't going to get no where.? When people repent and put God first, then you win.? That's how it works in life too.?

God bless you all
